Painting a Day #4 - Winter Fields
Okay, so it’s more like “Painting a Week”, if I’m lucky.
ANYHOO…..
Did this one sitting in my van today on a quiet country dirt road, parked facing the wrong way on the wrong side of the road (for which I was chastised by a passing school bus driver who stopped to see what was wrong …”yar parked on the wrong side of the road ya know…duhhh yeah, I knowwww..)…but there weren’t any approaches to park on and this scene just HAD to be painted from right where I was sitting. He musta been thinkin “what a weird chick, drawin’ in this weather.”
Soooo anyhoo, I spent 45mins parked there. It’s not a very busy road, all in all, only about 5 vehicles went buy in the time I was sitting there. Mostly farm vehicles.
This is 8″ x 10 1/2″ pastels on suede matboard. A typical winter scene in snowy Saskatchewan here. Been awhile since I’ve done a plein air, feels good to be “back in the saddle”, as it were. With the recent record dumping of snow we got last week, there’s some very pretty BIG snow drifts (mountains?) to be painted yet.
